Infusion Basics

Before you cook, it helps to understand how cannabis works with heat, fat and time. These fundamentals will help you get better results and more consistent experiences.
What is Decarboxylation?
Decarboxylation is the process of gently heating cannabis to activate its compounds. In raw flower, cannabinoids exist in their acidic form (like THCA). Heat transforms them into the active form used for infusions.
Why it matters:
Without decarboxylation, your infusion may be far less effective.
Simple Decarb Method
-
Preheat oven to 225°F
-
Break flower into small pieces (do not grind)
-
Spread evenly on a baking sheet
-
Bake 30–40 minutes
-
Let cool before infusing
Why Fat Matters in Infusion
Cannabinoids bind to fat, not water. That’s why butter, coconut oil, and olive oil are commonly used for infusions.
Best fats to use:
-
Butter (classic & versatile)
-
Coconut oil (long shelf life)
-
Olive oil (savory recipes)
Dosing & Responsible Use
Everyone’s tolerance is different. Start low, go slow, and give your body time before consuming more.
Tips:
-
Use small portions
-
Label infused foods clearly
-
Keep away from children & pets
